The map is attributed to Adam van der Duyn, a Dutch military engineer who contributed to the documentation of Dutch East India Company (VOC) forts and settlements in the early 18th century. His work formed part of the VOC’s extensive efforts to survey and secure its trading posts through detailed cartography. Van der Duyn’s engravings are known for their clarity, spatial logic, and direct correspondence with field conditions.
