Jean-Paul Riopelle (1923-2002) was a Canadian painter and sculptor known for his association with the abstract expressionist movement. Riopelle's work is characterized by its dynamic use of color and texture, often achieved through thickly applied paint and a palette knife technique. His art is celebrated in major international collections, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris.
