Beskrivning

Original engraving by Cornelis Bloemaert originates from ”Aedes Barberinae ad Quirinalem” by Hieronymus Tetius, published in Rome by Excudebat Mascardus, 1640.

Cornelis Bloemaert (1603–1692) was a Dutch engraver and artist active during the Dutch Golden Age. He is known for his detailed and technically skilled engravings, often created after works by renowned artists such as Peter Paul Rubens and Guido Reni. Bloemaert studied under his father, Abraham Bloemaert, and developed a unique style that combined precision with a soft tonal quality. He spent much of his life in Rome, where he produced works that contributed to the spread of Italian Baroque art across Europe.
