Set of two color lithographs originates from the series ”Monuments of Architecture and Sculpture in Belgium”, published by Imp. Simonau & Toovey in Bruxelles, 1860.
François Stroobant (1819–1916) was a Belgian painter, known for his landscape and genre paintings. He was born in Brussels and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown. Stroobant became a prominent figure in the Belgian art scene, particularly for his depictions of natural landscapes and everyday life. His works are characterized by a romantic style with attention to detail and light, reflecting the influences of both Dutch and Belgian traditions in landscape painting.
