Johann Leonhard Frisch (1666–1743) was a German naturalist, linguist, and educator known for his contributions to various fields, including ornithology and entomology. He is best known for his work “Vogel-Buch”, one of the earliest books on birds in Germany, which provided detailed illustrations and descriptions of local bird species. Frisch also had an interest in languages and worked on a dictionary of the Slavic languages. Additionally, he was involved in silk production and researched silkworms, reflecting his diverse scientific interests.
