Beskrivning
"Geographische Delineation derer Aemter Doelitsch Bitterfeld Zörbig"
This large engraved map shows the administrative districts (Ämter) of Döllitsch, Bitterfeld, and Zörbig, located within the Electorate of Saxony. It includes regional borders in color, detailed town names, roads, forests, rivers, and topographical features. The cartouche in the upper left features allegorical figures and a full title in German, while a detailed legend in the lower left explains the symbols used across the map. The print reflects the elegant and clear cartographic style of early 18th-century Amsterdam.
Peter Schenk the Elder was a prominent German-Dutch engraver and publisher based in Amsterdam. He was known for his detailed city views and maps, often working alongside Gerard Valck. His publications helped document the political and military geography of late 17th and early 18th-century Europe. The map was printed in Amsterdam shortly after the 1695 bombardment.
