Beskrivning
This large, finely detailed map titled Accurate Geographische Delineation des zu dem Koenigreich Boehmen gehoerigen Egerischen Creisses illustrates the Eger (Cheb) region of the Kingdom of Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic. It meticulously depicts cities, towns, villages, roads, rivers, and topographical features, with hand-colored boundaries distinguishing various administrative divisions. The lower right corner is adorned with an elaborate cartouche featuring allegorical figures and military motifs, underscoring the map's artistic and informational significance.
Originally engraved by Peter Schenk the Elder, this map was posthumously published in 1757 by his son, Peter Schenk the Younger, who inherited and continued the family's cartographic enterprise. The publication includes a royal and electoral privilege (mit Königl. und Churfürstl. Sächs. Privilegio), highlighting its official status and accuracy.
