Bilder Carl Peter Hallström (1765–1836) – Map of Örebro County (Örebro Höfdingdöme) – Large Hand-Colored Copperplate Engraving (1803)

Beskrivning
"Charta öfver Örebro Höfdingdöme"
This large and meticulously detailed map was created by Carl Peter Hallström and published in 1803 under the direction of Baron Samuel Gustaf Hermelin. It is based on geometrical surveys and astronomical observations conducted in the years 1798, 1801, and 1802. The map presents the administrative divisions of Örebro County in central Sweden, with hand-colored boundaries, topographic relief, and a detailed depiction of settlements, rivers, and roads. It was part of a broader national cartographic initiative led by Hermelin to modernize Sweden’s geographic records.
Samuel Gustaf Hermelin (1744–1820), who oversaw the project, was a Swedish cartographer, diplomat, and industrialist. He was instrumental in advancing scientific mapping in Sweden and contributed to the development of several provincial atlases. His collaboration with skilled surveyors and engravers like Hallström helped establish a new cartographic standard during the Enlightenment era.
