This map of the United States shows the eastern half of the country, including a detailed depiction of the Mississippi River basin and the Great Lakes. Florida is included as an inset titled "Continuation of Florida." The engraving style and level of detail reflect cartographic standards of the early 19th century, with political boundaries and major cities clearly marked. The map was published in London by Thomas Kelly at 17 Paternoster Row.
Alexander Findlay (1790–1870) was a prominent British geographer and hydrographer, known for his contributions to maritime and inland cartography. He produced numerous maps and atlases that were widely used throughout the 19th century. His work is recognized for its precision, clarity, and utility in both academic and navigational contexts.
