Bilder Daniel Meisner (1585–1625) – Title Page for Libellus Novus Politicus Emblematum Civitates Pars Sexta – Etching (Frankfurt, 1624)

Beskrivning
This etching forms the richly allegorical title page for the sixth part of Libellus Novus Politicus Emblematum Civitates, a subseries within the larger emblematic atlas Thesauri Philo-Politici, published in Frankfurt in 1624. The central title cartouche is surrounded by six circular emblems representing humoral and civic concepts such as Phlegma, Sanguis, Fortitudo, Collegius, and Nec Sorte Nec Iacu, blending symbolic figures with mottoes, animals, and heraldic devices. The lower margin bears the publisher’s line: P. Fürst Excudit A° 1624, attributing publication to Paul Fürst. The entire project was conceived and authored by Daniel Meisner, a Bohemian-born poet and emblematist, in collaboration with engravers and publishers across Frankfurt and Nuremberg.
Daniel Meisner (1585–1625) is best known for this monumental series combining emblematic city views with moralizing Latin or German mottos, serving both as an artistic and ideological mirror of the early modern world.
