This exquisite copperplate engraving, titled Sinus Gangeticus vulgo Golfo de Bengala, was created by the renowned Dutch cartographer Petrus Schenk in the early 18th century. The map beautifully depicts the Bay of Bengal and its surrounding regions, including parts of India, Myanmar, and the islands scattered across the Indian Ocean. Meticulously detailed, it highlights coastal settlements, river systems, and mountainous regions, adorned with decorative elements that reflect the artistic grandeur of Dutch cartography.

The map is richly decorated with an elaborate title cartouche featuring classical motifs and allegorical figures symbolizing maritime exploration and trade.
