Known as the "father of French cartography," Sanson's work is celebrated for its precision and clarity. The map showcases Anjou and its surrounding regions, featuring intricate renderings of rivers, towns, forests, and topographical details, all meticulously labeled in Sanson’s characteristic style.

The map is adorned with a decorative cartouche, framed by cherubs and floral elements, which encapsulates the title "ANIOV." Sanson’s contribution to mapmaking was monumental, bringing a new level of accuracy and artistry to geographic representation in the 17th century. His works are considered fundamental in the development of French cartography and were widely influential across Europe.
