A Plan of the East End of the Island of Quibo. This nautical chart details the eastern coastline of Quibo Island, located off the Pacific coast of Panama. The map features geographic annotations such as "Salt Lagoons," "Port de Dames," "Fishermens Hutts," and adjacent smaller islands like "The Island Quiveta" and "The Island of Canales." It also includes navigational aids such as a compass rose and depth soundings. The map was published in connection with the accounts of George Anson’s circumnavigation, as documented in the official report of his voyage between 1740 and 1744. The work was engraved and printed in London as part of Anson’s widely distributed travelogue describing British naval exploration in the Pacific.

George Anson (1697–1762) was a British admiral and notable circumnavigator. His voyage around the world (1740–1744) during the War of Jenkins' Ear was both an act of naval warfare and exploration, targeting Spanish possessions in the Pacific. Anson’s expedition brought back crucial geographical information and was instrumental in enhancing British knowledge of Pacific routes. His published account became a bestseller and had lasting influence on both naval strategy and cartography.
