Bilder Boetius Adams Bolswert – Sanctus Hieronymus – Engraving (1619)

Beskrivning
This early Baroque engraving shows Saint Jerome in penitence, kneeling with a stone in hand before a crucifix in a desolate wilderness. His emaciated body, radiant halo, and the presence of a skull and Bible emphasize themes of asceticism, meditation, and mortality. The composition blends dramatic light with intense devotional atmosphere typical of Counter-Reformation iconography.
