This collection comprises a full set of a new edition of the renowned work by Buffon (1707-1788), edited by the French naturalist C.-N.-S. Sonnini de Manoncourt (1751-1812). The volumes cover a wide range of subjects, including general topics such as the theory of the earth and mineralogy, as well as specific categories like quadrupeds, birds, fish, cetaceans, reptiles (authored by Daudin), mollusks (by Denys-Monfort), crustaceans and insects (by P.A. Latreille), and plants (by C.F. Brisseau-Mirbel). Illustrated with over 1,000 plates and complete with 2 volumes of tables. Referenced in Nissen (ZBI) 682.
