Beskrivning
This monumental wall map of the East Indies, drawn and engraved by Thomas Jefferys, was published in London in 1774 under the patronage of the East India Company. Covering the Indian subcontinent in exceptional detail, it charts Bengal, the Deccan, Mysore, Malabar, and Coromandel coasts, as well as Ceylon and parts of Burma and the Maldives. The hand-coloured engraving reflects the British colonial presence and cartographic precision of the late 18th century.
Thomas Jefferys was one of the most important English cartographers of his time, appointed Geographer to King George III and known for his large-scale surveys and finely executed maps that defined British imperial geography in the Age of Enlightenment.
