Bilder Guillaume Delisle (1675–1726) – Map of Asia / Carte d’Asie – Hand-Coloured Engraving (c.1780s, published by Dezauche)

Beskrivning
This meticulously detailed map of Asia, titled Carte d’Asie, was originally drawn by Guillaume Delisle and later published by Dezauche in the late 18th century. The map encompasses the vast Asian continent from the Mediterranean to the Pacific, including the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, and extending north to the Arctic Ocean. Delisle’s rendering, based on observations by the Académie Royale des Sciences and recent European expeditions, represents one of the most scientifically accurate cartographic treatments of the time.
Delicate hand-colouring highlights regional borders, and the composition is enhanced by a neoclassical title cartouche in the upper right. This edition was issued by Jean-Claude Dezauche, who succeeded the Delisle and Buache publishing lineage.
