Bilder Guillaume Delisle (1675–1726) – Map of Europe / Carte d’Europe – Hand-Coloured Engraving (c.1780s, published by Dezauche)

Beskrivning
This detailed and finely engraved map titled Carte d’Europe represents the European continent with its political divisions in the late 18th century. Originally created by Guillaume Delisle, the map was based on observations from the Académie Royale des Sciences and other contemporary sources. The geographical scope includes all of continental Europe, the British Isles, Iceland, and parts of western Russia, the Ottoman Empire, and North Africa. Each region is delineated in delicate hand-applied colour, with cities, rivers, and mountain chains clearly marked.
A richly ornamented title cartouche in the upper left corner highlights the map’s dedication to geographical precision. This edition was published by Jean-Claude Dezauche, successor to Delisle and Buache, who continued to issue updated prints of Delisle’s work into the late 1700s.
