Beskrivning
Original Latin-German title: Milometria Distantias Urbium per Germaniam Definiendis Destinata cum quibusdam figuris... / Meilen-Messung durch Behende Anweisung. This large-format engraving is a meticulously structured distance table showing travel distances between major German cities in Meilen (German miles). Organized in a diagonal matrix format, the sheet uses colored bands to guide the viewer through a dense grid of comparative data. The top right features a richly decorated cartouche with allegorical figures and a lion-drawn chariot, symbolizing swiftness and measurement. Intended as a practical reference for travelers, post riders, and merchants, this engraving is both decorative and informative.
