Bilder Giocondo Albertolli (1742–1839) – Ornamental Tureen Design with Eagles – Engraving (Late 18th Century)

Beskrivning
This neoclassical engraving by Giocondo Albertolli presents an elaborate design for a silver tureen, intended for noble or ceremonial use. The vessel is richly adorned with intricate floral motifs, volute handles, and a domed lid crowned by two sculpted eagles flanking a finial. A semicircular plan view is depicted below the main elevation, highlighting both the decorative and functional qualities of the object. Such ornamental designs were part of Albertolli’s broader contribution to architectural decoration and silverwork aesthetics in late 18th-century Milan.
Giocondo Albertolli (1742–1839) was a Swiss-born Italian architect, engraver, and ornamental designer, active primarily in Milan. He was appointed professor of ornament at the Brera Academy, where he significantly influenced neoclassical decorative arts. Albertolli published a series of folios on architectural ornamentation that shaped the visual language of interior decoration in the Napoleonic era. His refined engravings, characterized by clarity and sculptural depth, were widely used by craftsmen and architects throughout Europe.
