The images include dissected views of the heart's internal chambers, pulmonary vessels, and valves, as well as frontal and oblique dissections of the chest revealing the ribcage and mediastinal structures. Each anatomical feature is precisely labeled with reference letters for explanatory use. The plate is part of De Nieuw-Hervormde Anatomia, Blankaart’s influential Dutch-language medical treatise that democratized access to anatomical knowledge through clear visuals and vernacular text.

Stephanus Blankaart (1650–1704) was a Dutch anatomist and physician who championed accessible medical education. His anatomical works are notable for their clarity, detail, and didactic purpose. By combining empirical dissection with high-quality engraving, Blankaart played a key role in advancing anatomical science during the Dutch Golden Age.
