Bilder Jules Chéret (1836–1932) – Punch Grassot (Le Punch Grassot) – Chromolithograph (1896)
Beskrivning
This colorful print is a miniature of one of Jules Chéret's celebrated commercial posters in the prestigious Les Maîtres de l'Affiche (The Masters of the Poster) series. The illustration advertises the beverage Punch Grassot, with the text reading: "Punch Grassot is available in all Great Cafés" (Le Punch Grassot se trouve dans tous les Grands Cafés). The central figure is a classic Chérette, a dynamic, red-haired young woman in motion, dressed in a swirling yellow and white dress, perched on a table and holding a tray with a bottle and a glass of the punch. The poster epitomizes the joyful, lively spirit of the Parisian Belle Époque and the new art of the street poster.
Jules Chéret was a French painter and lithographer considered the "father of the modern poster." He revolutionized the medium by utilizing innovative color lithography techniques to create visually striking, exuberant, and distinctly Parisian designs. Chéret was the artistic director of the Les Maîtres de l'Affiche series (1895–1900), which reproduced the best contemporary posters and popularized the genre among collectors.
