Jacques-Nicolas Bellin was a French hydrographer and geographer who served as the Official Hydrographer to the French King. His work includes a vast number of plates for major maritime and scholarly publications, notably the Histoire Générale des Voyages by Antoine François Prévost, where this map was published.
