Matthaeus Smallegange was a Dutch historian, genealogist, and cartographer from Zeeland. He devoted much of his life to chronicling the history and topography of his native province. His most significant achievement is the Nieuwe Cronyk van Zeeland (New Chronicle of Zeeland), first published in 1696. This comprehensive work, valued for its detailed text and numerous high-quality maps and views, remains a crucial source for the history of the region.
