Lodovico Guicciardini was an Italian merchant, historian, and writer who lived and worked primarily in Antwerp. A nephew of the famous historian Francesco Guicciardini, Lodovico is best known for his Descrittione di tutti i Paesi Bassi. First published in 1567 (with maps added in later editions from 1581), this comprehensive work provided detailed descriptions and histories of the cities and regions of the Low Countries, significantly shaping European understanding of the area during a period of great economic and political change.
