This woodcut, part of a page from Book III of Münster's Cosmographia, depicts a dynamic battle scene above, related to German history, and features an inset portrait identified as Count Eberhard of Württemberg below. The print is embedded within German gothic script describing historical events of the region. This illustration served to visually enhance the encyclopedic descriptions within the renowned 16th-century work.

Sebastian Münster was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and Christian Hebraist scholar. His Cosmographia (first published in 1544) was one of the most successful and widely read books of the 16th century, notable for its numerous maps, city views, and encyclopedic descriptions of the world. He was influential in reviving geography in Germany.
