Sebastian Münster was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and Christian Hebraist scholar. His Cosmographia (first published in 1544) was one of the most successful and widely read books of the 16th century, notable for its numerous maps, city views, and encyclopedic descriptions of the world. He was influential in reviving geography in Germany.
