Bilder Hermann Eduard Fritze (1811–1866) & Georg Friedrich Otto Reich (b. 1807) – Surgical Procedures on the Eye (Fig. XX) – Engraving with hand-coloring (c. 1845)
Beskrivning
This medical illustration (Plate Fig. XX) displays a series of eight numbered figures detailing various surgical procedures related to the human eye and eyelids. The colored anatomical illustrations show specific surgical incisions, excisions, and subsequent suturing used to correct conditions such as ectropion (outward turning eyelid) or entropion (inward turning eyelid), and potentially to address growths or injuries near the eye.
Hermann Eduard Fritze was a German anatomist and professor in Greifswald, and Georg Friedrich Otto Reich was a German ophthalmologist. This collaborative work is derived from a major 19th-century anatomical or surgical atlas, such as those detailing the rapidly advancing field of ophthalmic surgery. The use of precise lines and hand-coloring was essential for communicating complex surgical techniques to contemporary practitioners.
