Bilder Olof Rudbeck the Younger (1660–1740) – The Honey Buzzard (Falco Buteo, Accipiter Buto) – Facsimile print printed on quality paper (20th Century)
Beskrivning
This striking zoological illustration depicts a Honey Buzzard (Falco Buteo or Accipiter Buto), a large bird of prey, shown standing in profile. The print is characterized by detailed plumage patterns, a sharp beak, prominent yellow talons, and expressive eyes, rendered with a combination of fine lines and hand-coloring to achieve a lifelike appearance.
Olof Rudbeck the Younger was a distinguished Swedish scientist, explorer, and botanist. He held the chair of medicine at Uppsala University and undertook significant scientific expeditions. He is renowned for his monumental but unfinished work, Campus Elysii, a botanical and zoological catalog intended to document Scandinavian flora and fauna. The original plates were engraved, but the work was never fully published in his lifetime, leading to the creation of high-quality facsimile prints of the surviving images in the 20th century.
