The map covers a vast geographical area, spanning from Greece and Egypt (labeled Mer Mediterranée and Mer Exin) eastward across Anatolia, Persia, and into India (labeled Mer des Indes and Scythie). The territories are labeled with ancient names such as Arabia Felix, Ariana, and Sogdiane. This historical map was published by Le Rouge in Paris.
Georges-Louis Le Rouge was an influential French geographer and publisher based in Paris during the mid-18th century. Known primarily for his extensive production of atlases, town plans, and sea charts, Le Rouge played a significant role in disseminating geographical knowledge during the Age of Enlightenment, often republishing or adapting the best contemporary cartography from other nations.
