Beskrivning

This geographical print is a regional map depicting the Dutch province of Zeeland (Zélande) and the adjacent area of Flandre Hollandoise (Dutch Flanders). The map clearly illustrates the complex geography of the region, consisting of multiple islands and peninsulas separated by waterways, including Walcheren, North Beveland, South Beveland, and Cadzand. The Mer du Nord (North Sea) is noted to the west. The map features hand-coloring along the borders and contains an elaborate title cartouche in the upper left corner featuring putti and agricultural symbolism.

Georges-Louis Le Rouge was an influential French geographer and publisher based in Paris during the mid-18th century. Known primarily for his extensive production of atlases, town plans, and sea charts, Le Rouge played a significant role in disseminating geographical knowledge during the Age of Enlightenment, often republishing or adapting the best contemporary cartography from other nations.
