This copperplate engraving is a detailed topographical map of the historical County of Tyrol, a region encompassing parts of modern-day Austria and Italy, labeled "Le Tirol." The map extends its coverage to include portions of surrounding territories such as Bavaria, Swabia, Carinthia, and Lombardy, illustrating political borders, hydrography, and the mountainous terrain that defines the region. Georges-Louis Le Rouge was a highly prolific and important French cartographer and publisher of the late 18th century.
