Friedrich Justin Bertuch was a German publisher, patron, and author who became a key figure in the cultural life of Weimar. He is most famous for his monumental Bilderbuch für Kinder, which consisted of twelve volumes published between 1790 and 1830, featuring thousands of meticulously engraved and hand-colored plates designed to provide a comprehensive visual education for young people.
