Goeree was highly regarded for his ability to integrate classical mythology and history into his illustrations, frequently providing frontispieces and plates for major historical and scientific publications. His style is characterized by a refined use of line and a sophisticated sense of composition, which helped define the visual language of Enlightenment-era antiquarianism.
