After marrying into the Hondius family, he eventually led the firm and produced the monumental Atlas Novus and Atlas Major, which were among the most ambitious publishing projects of the 17th century. Janssonius's maps were highly influential and distributed widely throughout Europe, solidifying Amsterdam's status as the global center of map production during the Dutch Golden Age.
