Bilder Jacques-Nicolas Bellin (1703–1772) – Map of the Entrance to the Canton River – Copperplate engraving (1748)
Beskrivning
This maritime chart depicts the Pearl River Delta in southern China, illustrating the vital entrance to the port of Canton. The work highlights the intricate network of islands, including Great Tiger Island (Grande Isle du Tigre), Lintin Island, and the peninsula of Macao located at the southwestern edge of the estuary. Depth soundings and submerged hazards are meticulously recorded throughout the waterways to guide naval navigation.
