This work was published in Paris as part of the "Atlas Complet du Précis de la Géographie Universelle," authored by Conrad Malte-Brun and engraved by Lapie.
Conrad Malte-Brun was a Danish-born geographer who became a leading figure in French cartography after being exiled from his homeland. He is best known for his monumental work "Précis de la Géographie Universelle" and for founding the Société de Géographie. Pierre Lapie, a prominent French military geographer and engraver, frequently collaborated with him to produce high-quality maps known for their scientific accuracy and clear presentation. Their partnership produced some of the most authoritative geographical references of the early nineteenth century, documenting the era's expanding knowledge of the Pacific and Australian territories.
