In the background, figures are shown skating and falling through the ice, with a church tower visible on the distant horizon. This emblem is part of the work Silenus Alcibiadis, sive, Proteus, published in Middelburg by Johannes Hellenius in 1618. the image serves as a moral warning about the necessity of prudence and the dangers of proceeding without caution, using the fox's instinct as a metaphor for wise human conduct.
