Beskrivning
"Carinthiae Ducatus. Tabula geographica in Superiorem et Inferiorem divisa." This hand-coloured engraving presents a comprehensive geographical survey of the Duchy of Carinthia, divided into its Upper and Lower regions. The cartography emphasizes the dramatic alpine topography of the region, meticulously depicting the mountain ranges, valleys, and river systems that define the southern Austrian landscape. The map features vibrant hand-colouring to distinguish internal administrative borders and surrounding territories. At the bottom of the plate, a large panoramic inset provides a topographical view of Klagenfurt, the provincial capital, shown with its urban fortifications and prominent church spires against a mountain backdrop. A decorative title cartouche is positioned in the upper right corner, while the lower left contains a detailed key and various scale bars. This work was published in Nuremberg and serves as a significant record of the territorial geography of the Holy Roman Empire during the early eighteenth century.
