"Carte des Gouvernements de Lorraine et d'Alsace." This hand-coloured engraving presents a detailed geographical and administrative survey of the Lorraine and Alsace regions in eastern France, including the neighboring territories of the Palatinate and Luxembourg. The cartography delineates the complex borders of these frontier provinces with vibrant red, green, and yellow outline colouring, showing the dense network of towns, villages, and river systems such as the Rhine and the Moselle. A decorative rococo title cartouche is featured in the lower right corner, adorned with multi-coloured floral garlands and foliage. This work was published in Venice by Santini as part of his "Atlas Universel," which was largely based on the significant cartographic contributions of the d'Anville and Robert de Vaugondy workshops. The plate serves as an essential record of the political geography of eastern France during the late eighteenth century.

Paolo Santini was a prominent Venetian engraver and publisher active during the latter half of the eighteenth century.
