Beskrivning
"Carte de l'Asie divisée en ses Principaux Etats dressée sur les découvertes récentes" This engraved map presents a comprehensive view of the Asian continent, highlighting its major political divisions and geographical features as understood in the early nineteenth century. The composition details vast regions including the Russian Empire, the Chinese Empire, India, and the archipelagoes of Southeast Asia, with political borders accentuated by subtle hand-coloured outlines in yellow, blue, and red. Extensive hydrographic information is included, documenting major river systems, coastal contours, and the surrounding oceans, while topographical features are indicated through stylized mountain profiles. The title is set within an elegant cursive script in the upper right, and the lower left corner contains multiple distance scales in various units such as French leagues and marine miles. This map was published in Lyon by Rolland in 1813.
