Henrik Prince van Oranie etc. Anno 1647" depicts the solemn scene of the final moments of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange, surrounded by family and high-ranking officials. The Prince is shown lying in an ornate canopy bed while various notable figures, identified by a numbered key at the bottom, gather in the chamber, including Prince Willem II and members of the royal household. Cornelis van Dalen was a prominent Dutch Golden Age engraver and draughtsman active in Amsterdam during the mid-seventeenth century.
