Beskrivning

"Mappe-Monde par Jean Tardieu" depicts the terrestrial globe divided into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. The composition features detailed coastlines for all major continents, with particular attention to the recent discoveries in Australia (labeled Nouvelle Hollande) and the Pacific islands. At the top center, a decorative title cartouche is surrounded by a radiant sunburst and clouds, while a smaller oval at the bottom center provides the engraver's information. This hand-coloured engraving was published in Paris by Francois Buisson as part of the Atlas Complet du Precis de la Geographie Universelle. The work serves as a comprehensive cartographic summary of global geographical knowledge at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
