This topographical map depicts the Departement of the Corse, France (Corsica), showing the island's political divisions, which are highlighted in contrasting hand-coloring.
Sebastian Münster was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and scholar. He is best known as the primary author and editor of the Cosmographia, one of the most influential and commercially successful books of the 16th century. First published in 1544, this work provided a comprehensive description of the known world and was renowned for its extensive use of woodcut illustrations, including numerous city views and maps.
