This geographical engraving, titled "Carte de la Tartarie Orientale" (Map of Oriental Tartary), depicts the region of East Asia stretching from Siberia down to the coast, notably including the Kamchatka Peninsula and parts of the Russian Far East. The map was engraved "Pour servir à l'Histoire générale des Voyages" (To serve the General History of Voyages).
Antoine-François Prévost, often known as the Abbé Prévost, was a French novelist, historian, and cleric, best known for Manon Lescaut and for editing and compiling this popular multi-volume collection of global travel accounts.
