Beskrivning

"Orbis Antiqui Mappa Nova" is a hand-coloured etching that illustrates the ancient world, including Europe, North Africa, and the Asian continent. This work was published in the Atlas de la Geographie by the Delamarche firm in Paris in 1827. The map features classical geographical nomenclature and depicts the extent of geographical knowledge associated with ancient civilizations.

Felix Delamarche was a French geographer and map publisher active during the early nineteenth century. He was the son of Charles-Francois Delamarche, who founded one of the most significant French map publishing houses of the era. Felix continued his father's legacy by updating and expanding the firm's geographical works and atlases.
