"Cineraria and Cyclamen" illustrates a vibrant floral composition featuring deep purple cineraria blooms and bright pink cyclamen with their characteristic mottled green leaves, set against a neutral background. This woodblock print is a plate from the botanical series Seiyo Soka Zufu, published by Unsodo in Kyoto in 1923 and printed by Sagi Keizo using the original woodblocks. The composition reflects the transition of Japanese floral art toward a more naturalistic and vivid style. 

Tanigami Konan was a Japanese painter and printmaker active during the Taisho and early Showa eras. He was a prominent figure in the Nihon-ga movement and specialized in kacho-e, the traditional genre of bird and flower motifs. Konan was among the first artists to document western floral varieties in Japan, blending traditional woodblock artistry with western botanical realism. His extensive collaborations with the publisher Unsodo resulted in several influential botanical albums that documented flora with technical precision.
