"Horlogerie, Machine pour Arrondir les Dentures" This engraving illustrates a specialized mechanical tool used in clockmaking to refine and round the teeth of clock wheels. The technical nature is a copper engraving. It was produced for the Recueil de Planches, which accompanied the monumental Encyclopedie edited by Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d Alembert, published in Paris. Robert Benard was a French engraver who directed the production of many technical illustrations for major eighteenth-century works.
