Captain Thomas Brown was a Scottish naturalist and malacologist who served as the curator of the Manchester Museum. His military career in the Forfar Militia preceded a life dedicated to the natural sciences, where he became known for creating accessible and detailed educational resources. Brown's extensive body of work helped popularize the study of zoology during the Victorian era.
