"Der bunte Fasan, Der Goldfasan" This plate illustrates two exotic bird species: the green pheasant with its iridescent plumage and long tail, and the golden pheasant featuring a vibrant red breast and golden crest. The technical nature is a hand-coloured lithograph. It was published in the Naturhistorische Bilder-Gallerie aus dem Thierreiche, which was printed in Zurich and Schaffhausen. This series is celebrated for its scientific precision and the high artistic quality of the hand-colouring, which accurately captures the detailed textures and vivid colours of the animal kingdom.
Karl Joseph Brodtmann was a Swiss artist, lithographer, and publisher who became one of the most prominent natural history illustrators of the early nineteenth century.
